We are Made Worthy by Jesus Christ

  • We are Made Worthy by Jesus Christ

This core Christian tenet emphasizes grace, forgiveness, and the transformative power of faith through the sacrifice and love of Jesus Christ. Through Faith in Christ, all people can be made worthy for redemption and a close relationship with God.
Human worth and righteousness are not earned through personal merit or actions. Instead, they are bestowed upon believers through their faith in Jesus Christ.

  • Come to God, Just As I Am
  • God encourages us to come to Him, just as we are. We may have our doubts, we may be fearful, but God loves us so much, that He died for the sins of the whole world.
Note: “Propitiation” refers to the act of appeasing or satisfying the wrath of God through a sacrificial offering.
  • 1John 2:2: “And he [the Son of God, Jesus] is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
  • 1John 4:10: “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
  • Matthew 11:28: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
  • John 6:37: “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”
  • Sacrifice, Atonement, and Forgiveness
  • Christ’s sacrificial death on the cross is the atonement for the sins of humanity. By bearing the burden of sin, He offers forgiveness to all who believe in Him. Christ’s sacrifice and atonement cleanse believers of their sins and make them acceptable in the eyes of God. This underscores the unconditional love and grace of God.
  • 1Peter 2:24: “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
  • John 1:29: “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
  • Ephesians 1:7: “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”
  • Through Faith
  • We are made worthy through Faith in Jesus Christ, His Love, His Sacrifice, and the Gift of God’s Grace.
  • Romans 5:1-2: “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
  • Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast”.
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”
  • Imputed Righteousness
  • When a person accepts Jesus as their Savior, they are credited with His righteousness. Imputed righteousness means that God sees believers as righteous because of Jesus’ perfect obedience and sacrifice.
  • 2 Corinthians 5:21: “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
  • Romans 4:21-25: “And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.”
  • New Identity in Christ
  • Christians are given a new identity in Christ. They are now the children of God and co-heirs with Christ.
  • 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
  • Romans 8:16-17: “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”
  • Empowerment by the Holy Spirit
  • Jesus promised the Holy Spirit to His followers. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to live out their faith, grow in holiness, and serve others. This divine empowerment helps them fulfill their God-given potential and live lives worthy of their calling.
  • Acts 1:8: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
  • Galatians 5:22-23: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
  • Transformation and Renewal
  • Through Jesus, believers undergo a process of transformation and renewal. This involves a change in heart, mind, and actions, aligning them more closely with God’s will. This ongoing transformation makes believers worthy ambassadors of Christ.
  • Romans 12:2: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
  • Titus 3:5: “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;”
  • 2 Corinthians 4:16: “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.”
  • Ephesians 4:22-24: “That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
  • Hope of Eternal Life
  • Jesus’ resurrection from the dead gives believers the hope of eternal life. This promise of resurrection and eternal life with God shows their worth and value in God’s eyes.
  • John 11:25: “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:”
  • 1Peter 1:3-5: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
